From gold celebrations to European dreams with Julia Roddar
Now, in our series of articles about people who use DOT SHOT, it's the turn of national team-winning soccer player Julia Roddar. We talk about recovery and goals for the upcoming season, which includes games in Europe.
The first round of the Allsvenskan is being played this weekend, and the reigning champions will be joined by 32-year-old Julia Roddar. We spoke to her after a pre-season that consisted of intensive training days at Kanalplan, training camps in Spain, and a tough loss in the semi-finals against BK Häcken in the Swedish Cup.
– I still think we showed that we are still a good football team and that it was a very even football match against Häcken, she says.
As mentioned, the Allsvenskan starts this weekend, but in addition to that - thanks to last year's Allsvenskan win, they will also qualify for Europe this year.
– The big goal is above all to qualify for the Champions League. And we have a very good feeling in the group and have fun together. So I believe and hope that we can be in the fight for the gold this year too.
DOT SHOT has become a habit
Preparing for a new competition season and getting in shape, yes - it can just as much have to do with how time outside the football field looks. And one that has become a habit in everyday life for Julia Roddar is using DOT SHOT.
– During tough training days, it is incredibly important to be able to replenish with food and DOT SHOT as an extra supplement, she says and continues:
– I start the day with a DOT SHOT and then preferably one right after training.
Takes care of his body
This whole thing about taking care of your body, keeping track of what you eat, is something that has interested her for a long time. Something that may also have contributed to Julia having a long playing career and in addition to last year's Swedish Championship gold, also winning Swedish Championship gold with Kopparbergs/Göteborg in 2020, but also having had time to play in the USA.
– I've probably always been quite interested in nutrition and health and have read quite a bit about vitamins and minerals, how they can help you. And if it can help even a small percentage, that's both good and interesting, she says and continues:
– Since as an elite athlete you put a lot of strain on your body and are really on the limit all the time, supplements can be helpful. So I try to take care of my body as best I can.
Outside of football
But recovery is of course about much more than resting and eating well. Julia emphasizes that she enjoys being on the team and that, together with her teammates, she is good at finding activities off the football pitch and occasionally being able to shift her focus from football.
– Sometimes you just have to be able to disconnect from football completely and do something else. In addition to being in nature, I enjoy being with my family and friends - but also being a little more creative, like painting or working with my plants, she says.
